There are three types of stamping processes: punching, bending, and stretching. Different processes have different requirements for the sheet metal, and the selection of materials should also be considered based on the general shape and processing technology of the product.

1. Punching requires the sheet metal to have sufficient plasticity to ensure that it does not crack during the punching process. Soft materials have excellent punching functions, and after punching, parts with lubricated cross-sections and very small inclinations can be obtained. The quality of hard materials after punching is poor, with large cross-sectional roughness, especially for thick plates. For brittle materials, tearing is prone to occur after punching, especially when the width is very small, resulting in simple tearing.

2. The sheet metal that needs to be bent and shaped should have sufficient plasticity and a lower yield limit. High plasticity sheets are not easily cracked when bent, and sheets with low yield limit and elastic modulus adhesive have small rebound deformation after bending, making it easy to obtain accurate dimensions of bent shapes. Materials with high brittleness require a relatively large bending radius during the bending process, otherwise cracking is prone to occur during the bending process.

3. The stretching of sheet metal, especially deep stretching, is a difficult process in sheet metal processing. It not only requires the stretching depth to be as small as possible, the shape to be as simple and smooth as possible, but also requires good plasticity of the material. Otherwise, it can easily cause overall distortion and deformation of the parts, local wrinkling, and even cracking of the stretched parts.
